Make-Up Tips For Your Eyeshape!

Make-Up Tips For Your Eyeshape!

Have you ever tried following an eye makeup tutorial or just tried a new look only for it to look completely different on you? This is because everyone has their own unique eye shape. Below is a guide to help you determine what your eye shape is along with some makeup tips for how to compliment each shape (note: your eye shape may fall into more than one of these categories.)

Deep Set Eyes

Deep Set eyes often have a more prominent brow bone, and moderate lid space. To open up and brighten the eyes more, try using a champagne shade on the lid and inner corner. Deep set eyes are large enough to not appear overwhelmed by a thicker upper eyeliner.

Monolid Eyes

Monolid eyes often lack a crease or have a very small crease. To add depth to the eyes, try using a darker shade on the outer corner and use a fluffy brush with no shadow in it with a windshield wiper motion to blend the shadow toward your inner corner to create a gradient. Use a light shade on the lid and inner corner.

Hooded Eyes

If the skin above your eyes folds over the crease, you likely have hooded eyes. Hooded eyes can be tricky to work with as it is easy to do an eyeshadow look that becomes invisible as soon as you open your eyes. The trick to avoiding this is to look straight in the mirror and apply your crease shade above your crease where it is more visible.

Upturned Eyes

Upturned eyes have a natural lift at the outer corner creating a striking almond shaped appearance. To balance out this eyeshape and add definition, apply a dark eyeshadow or liner to the lower lashline from the outer corner to the middle of your eye.

Downturned Eyes

Downturned eyes have a downturned outer corner creating a puppy dog appearance. To lift this eyeshape, try using tape on the outer corner of your eye to the tail end of your eyebrow before applying eyeshadow to create a sharp cat eye effect. Apply a winged liner to compliment the eyeshadow.

Close-Set Eyes

Close set eyes are eyes that are less than one eye width apart. To create the illusion of wider eyes, use a light shimmery eyeshadow on your inner corners. This will brighten the appearance of your eyes.

Wide-Set Eyes

Wide set eyes are eyes that are more than one eye width apart, giving an almost ethereal appearance. Tightlining your upper and bottom waterline will help add definition to this eyeshape.
